If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
Internship Goals
Ministry Exposure
Receive exposure to different aspects of church ministry. Regardless of your focus, you will be exposed to as many aspects of church ministry during the course of your internship. For example:
- Involvement in public worship
- Pastoral care (hospital visits, membership interviews)
- Biblical Counseling observation
- Leadership meetings
Learning & Growing
During the course of your internship, you will be given a curated list of books, articles, and/or sermons to listen to. Observing ministry is good, but understanding the theology and philosophy driving ministry is just as important.
Discipleship
As an intern, you will spend significant time with the pastors, deacons, and church members. Each interaction is an opportunity to grow. Some of these relationships will push you spiritually and others will be an opportunity for you to invest in others.
Leading & Experience
During the course of the internship, you will have several ministry opportunities that require your leadership and hands-on effort. These opportunities may include:
- Teaching children or adults
- Organizing an outreach
- Leading a Home Group
- Camp counselor
